Cassity Morlan Travels with KWU Forensics, Debate to South Dakota

Cassity Morlan, of Kechi, KS, traveled to South Dakota State University on Oct. 8-9, to compete as part of the Kansas Wesleyan University Debate and Forensic Team. Colleges and universities from North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Illinois also participated in the tournament.

Individually in forensics, the Coyotes placed the following: Senior Dakota Yates placed second in Communications Analysis, third in Extemporaneous Speaking, and third in Impromptu Speaking. Sophomore Megan Kline placed third in Extemporaneous Speaking, fourth in Persuasive Speaking, and fifth in Informative Speaking. Sophomore Cassity Morlan placed fifth in both Persuasive Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking. Senior Katie Merrill Placed fifth in After Dinner Speaking.

In Pentathlon, where students have to compete in five events, Merrill placed third on the first day. Kline placed third on the second day, and Yates placed second.

In Debate, Kline and Yates placed second in Parliamentary Debate. Yates received the medal for being the second best speaker in the tournament.
