Courtney Wilson Assists With KWU Student-Run Professional Conference

2016 Apr 25

Courtney Wilson of McGregor , TX (76657) was among the more than 60 undergraduate and graduate Business students of Kansas Wesleyan University who planned, promoted, hosted and attended the third annual Results That Matter Continuous Improvement and Innovation Conference (CiiC) on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.

Professional business men and women came from Salina and surrounding areas to attend this one-day workshop and had the opportunity to learn the skills to embed continuous improvement and innovation within their activities and processes to enhance efficiency in the workplace. They came from the fields of manufacturing, healthcare, city government, small businesses and education.

The Lean/Six Sigma experts who spoke included Ken Stromberg (Phillips Lighting), Brian Weisel (Salina Regional Health Center), Bryon Johnson (City of Salina), Dr. Paul Hedlund (KWU), Scott Gardner and Mike Niedenthal (Mid-America Manufacturing Technology Center), Hyleme George (Black & Veatch, Salina office), Jason Gage (Salina City Manager) and community leaders. These business professionals guided attendees through real-life examples and success stories regarding applications of lean, continuous improvement.

Breakfast and lunch were provided during the workshop, as well as opportunities to network through a vendor fair which this year grew to 12 vendors through the diligent work of the students.

The event was organized by about two dozen Business seniors in the Strategic Management class, led by a cross-functional team. Marketing class students spread the word about the workshop by putting up posters around Salina and promoting the event through social media.
