Dakota Yates Competed with KWU Debate & Forensics in Oklahoma

On the weekend of Sept. 29 -Oct. 1, Dakota Yates, of El Dorado, KS, traveled with the Kansas Wesleyan Debate and Forensic Team to Southeast Oklahoma State University, Durant, OK, to compete with 21 other colleges and universities. Nationally ranked Texas University of Austin, TX, was the big winner in the forensics division winning first place in team sweepstakes both days. In debate, Camron University placed first in team sweepstakes on the first day, but KWU came back the second day to win the debate team sweepstakes.

Yates placed fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking, fifth in Impromptu Speaking, and sixth in Communication Analysis. He placed second in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Yates and his partner, Megan Kline, placed eighth in Parliamentary Debate.
