Dakota Yates Receives Recognition at 2016 Kansas Collegiate Media Conference

Dakota Yates of El Dorado , KS received recognition at the 2016 Kansas Collegiate Media (KCM) Conference held Thursday-Friday, April 7-8 at the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview in Wichita, KS.

The Advance student-run newspaper won a Bronze Medal in the Overall Category. Sophomore Katie Merrill (Arvada, CO) received Honorable Mention for Sports Photography and for News Photography. In the Review Writing category, junior Dakota Yates (El Dorado, KS) won first place and freshman David Ojeda (Salina, KS) received Honorable Mention. Senior Amber Benning (Caney, KS) won third place in Front Page Design and in Feature Photography, plus Honorable Mention for Page Design.

Online News won Honorable Mention in the Video category for sophomore Jackson Schneider (Lawrence, KS) and senior Ryan Thies (Phoenix, AZ).

The Coyote 2015 yearbook won a Silver Medal in the Overall Category and Third Place for Theme Development. KWU 2015 graduate Ciara Stallbaumer won Third Place for Page Design and for Headline/Art Headline Design and received Honorable Mention for Sports Page Design. KWU 2015 graduate Taylor Klover earned Honorable Mention for News Event Photography.
