Jennifer Rogers named to NSCAA Women's Soccer All-Plains Region team

Jennifer Rogers of Merseyside, FO has been selected to the NSCAA Women's Soccer All-Plains Region team.

Antonia Burrell, Cynthia Chavez and Jen Rogers were named to the first-team, while Jane Potter and Valerie Ochoa were named to the Honorable Mention team.

Burrell played a pivotal role in Wesleyan's stout defense that allowed only 14 goals all season long and just three in conference play. Burrell's play at the center back position has been integral in stopping many of the top goal scorers the Coyotes have faced all season. In addition to her defensive prowess, Burrell played forward on several set pieces and scored four goals this season.

Chavez earned First Team All-Region honors for a second straight season. Chavez finished the season with 26 goals and seven assists and a total of 59 offensive points on the season. Both her goal and points totals are new KWU single season school records. Chavez ranked second in the NAIA in game winning goals with eight, sixth in the NAIA in total goals and in total points, ninth in points per game and tenth in goals per game.

Rogers finished the year ranked second KCAC in assists with 12 but also had 16 goals on the season to rank third in the conference in total points with 44. She narrowly missed tying KWU's single season assist record of 13. She ranked seventh in the NAIA in assists per game (.630), ninth in total assists, 13th in shots per game (5.26), 17th in points per game (2.32), 20th in total points, 23rd in goals and 28th in game winning goals.

The freshman Ochoa was huge for the Coyotes in the midfield this season. In addition to setting up several goal scoring chances for the Coyotes, Ochoa added four goals and three assists on the season. She made 21 starts for the Coyotes this season.

Potter was solid in goal for the Coyotes this season. In over 1630 minutes, she posted a 10-2-2 record and allowed seven goals for a .720 goals against average. She had eight shutouts on the season as well as the Coyotes finished with 14 clean sheets on the season. Potter ranked 21st in the NAIA in goals against average. The Coyotes ranked sixth in the NAIA in shutouts.

The Coyotes finished the season 16-3-3 overall and 10-1 in the KCAC and were named KCAC Co-Champions and were the No. 2 seed in the KCAC Tournament, reaching the Championship match for the 12th consecutive year. KWU also reached the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round, facing Columbia College.
