Kelsey McClure Accepted to KU Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Degree Program

Kelsey McClure of Manhattan , KS, who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kansas Wesleyan University on May 9, 2015, with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science: Pre-Physical Therapy, has been accepted into the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. She began her graduate classes on May 27.

McClure chose to go into this field after being injured playing softball in high school. She received physical therapy and said she loved everything about it. She wanted to pursue her DPT degree at the University of Kansas because it is one of the top programs in the country, ranked #19 according to U.S. News & World Report.

The DPT degree in the KU Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the KU Medical Center is a three-year program with year-round classes for the first two years. Students participate in 36 weeks of clinical experience during their third year. Ninety-four percent of DPT students graduate from the program, 100 percent of students find employment within six months of graduating, and 100 percent who choose to take the physical therapy license exam pass on their first try.

McClure was on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Softball team for the fall semester of her freshman year. During her time at KWU, she served as president of the Kansas Delta chapter of Alpha Chi and as a student ambassador giving campus tours to visitors. During her sophomore and junior years, she was also involved with KWU theatre productions.
