Lunz earns weekly honor from KCAC

2014 Dec 16

Kansas Wesleyan's Jacob Lunz was selected as the KCAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a pair of games for the Coyotes last week. He was selected among a pool of nominees by the sports information directors of the conference.

Lunz was instrumental in helping KWU go 1-1 on the week, picking up the program's first conference win in the month of December on Thursday at McPherson and played a key role for the Coyotes on Saturday against Bethel.

The sophomore averaged 14 points and 11.5 rebounds per game (6 defensive rebounds per game). After eight rebounds against McPherson, he had 15 rebounds against Bethel and blocked three shots during the week and had four steals. He helped KWU hold its opponents to 36.9 shooting on the week and 29.1 percent 3-point shooting for the week.

The Coyotes are 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference and are back in action on Wednesday and Thursday in the Cruizin' Classic in Miami Gardens, Florida against Florida Memorial and St. Thomas (Fla.). Wesleyan returns home to host the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic on January 2 and 3 at Mabee Arena.
